King/Pierce Run 1,500m PRs at AMC | |
ZAP Fitness athletes Kyle King and Jonathan Pierce concluded their 2008 Olympic Trials tune-ups with 1,500m personal bests at the American Milers Club Series in Indianapolis, IN. Pierce opened the evening for ZAP in Heat I of the men's 1,500m and came away with a PR time of 3:44.53 besting his 3:45.9 best of 2005. In the final 1,500m heat of the evening Kyle King continued his streak of 2008 personal bests by running 3:40.66, knocking 1.2 seconds off his 3:41.8 from earlier this season. Pierce will be running the 3,000m steeplechase at the upcoming Olympic Trials and King both the 5,000m and the 1,500m.
Women's Running Vacation Set to Start
Thursday 6/19 - Sunday 6/22 will kick off the 2008 adult running camp season with a "sold-out" women's weekend. Women of all age and ability will receive lectures ranging from exercise science to "building a proper training program," all amidst the soft carriage path running of the High Country. The guest speaker for the session is 1996 Olympic 10,000m runner Joan Nesbit.

At the recent Prefontaine Classic ZAP first year athlete Jon Pierce grabbed his first 3,000m steeplechase best in 2 years with a time of 8:37.73. The performance improves Pierce's Olympic Trials Qualifying mark and continues his string of rapidly improving 2008 3k steeples (9:02 - 8:44 - 8:37).
King wins AMC Series III 1,500
On Wednesday 6/11 ZAP's Kyle King picked up his first victory of the 2008 campaign by winning the American Milers Club Series #3 1,500m in a time of 3:43.
Rigby Wedding Draws More than 250 to ZAP
Saturday June 7th saw more than 250 guests at the ZAP fitness facility for the highly anticipated Rigby wedding. After the "I-Dos" Guests danced 'til early in the morning and enjoyed southern barbeque from Foscoe Country Store. A special thanks to Queens College Coach Jeff Gaudette and ZAP interns Jenna Wrieden and Emily Hoyt for their assistance with the event.

Grace Runs 10,000m PR at Border Duel | |
ZAP Fitness resident athlete Allison Grace resumed her "PR" ways on Saturday evening 5/31 at the "Border Duel" 10,000m track event on the campus of Lewis & Clark University (Portland, OR). Covering her final mile in 5:09 Grace ran 33:17.1 knocking more than 12 seconds off her previous best time of 33:29.3. The performance also improves her Olympic Trials qualifying time in the event.
Pierce / Warrenburg Rapidly Improving in the 3k Steeplechase
First year ZAP athlete Jon Pierce also raced on 5/31 (3,000m steeplechase) at the highly competitive Reebok Grand Prix in NYC. Pierce finished in 8:44, improving 16 seconds on his season opener from the previous week. Also contesting the steeplechase was resident athlete Ryan Warrenburg who ran 8:46 at the American Milers Club Series Meet in Indianapolis, IN. The time was 19 seconds faster than his opener the previous week.
