ZAP Athletes Break Records at Olympic Trials

ZAP sent a record number of athletes to the Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston this past weekend with high expectations. Those expectations were met in what was a stellar weekend, highlighted by two personal bests and one great debut. Alissa McKaig, who has been rewriting the ZAP record books over the course of the past year, did it again in Houston on Saturday morning when she dropped her PR by over 5 minutes on the way to a top 10 finish. Peacock Runner-up at Manchester Road Race

First year ZAP athlete Landon Peacock made his professional debut in fine fashion on Thanksgiving morning at the historic Manchester Road Race. In the 75th running of America's most prestigious Thanksgiving Day race Peacock turned in the best finish and fastest time by a ZAP athlete in the history of the event. Peacock ran like anything but a rookie, turning in a second place finish in a blistering time of 21:38 for the 4.748 mile course. Jankowski Takes Title at The Richest 5k Run

The Atlanta Motor Speedway was home to The Richest 5k on the Planet last weekend, and David Jankowski was there to lay claim to the top prize of $6,000. Jankowski covered the 2-loop course around the Speedway in a swift 14:11, just edging out the Reuben Mwei by less than a second. Jankowski, in the midst of prepping for the Olympic Marathon Trials,  showed great strength and finishig speed to take the Reebok sponsored event's inaugural title. Porter Makes Marathon Debut at NYC; Erb Runner-up Finish at Richmond Half

First year ZAP athlete Sarah Porter made her marathon debut last week at New York City. Sarah executed the first half the race according to plan, "Sarah did a nice job sticking with the game plan the first half of the race," said head coach Pete Rea. She crossed the halfway mark in just over 1:18, averaging just a hair under 6min pace. After the halfway mark Porter began to slow a bit, crossing the finish line in 2:44 - a mark that qualified her for the Olympic Trials, although she won't run. Jesse Cherry Punches Ticket to Houston

First year athlete Jesse Cherry finalized the ZAP roster for the Olympic Marathon Trials with his race at the San Jose Half Marathon. Jesse ran a 16 second PR, running 1:04:52 to dip under the Olympic Trials standard of 1:05:00 and earn a trip to Houston for the Olympic Trials. Jesse led the chase pack of runners for most of the race, maintaining qualifying pace through the finish line. In her first two months as a resident athlete at ZAP Sarah Porter has already made a big impact with her 5th place showing at the US 10 Mile Championships. In the midst of her New York City Marathon buildup Sarah took to the streets in Minneapolis/St. Paul to compete against some of the country's best over 10 miles. The ZAP Fitness Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of 3 athletes to its' resident team. See bios below Landon Peacock - Landon is a 2011 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Peacock was the 2010 Big Ten Conference XC Champion and a multi-time All American while running for the Badgers and coach Mick Byrne. Team ZAP Post Strong Results Across the US 6/11-6/12 Weekend

This past weekend saw ZAP athletes in action across the country. At the Portland Track Festival (Lewis & Clark College) Allison Grace-Morgan ran the 5,000m in 15:52.9 for her final tune up race before USATF Nationals in the 10,000m. The race comes on the heels of Morgan's mile pr the previous weekend at the Music City Distance Carnival. McKaig Named to World Championship Marathon Team

ZAP Resident Athlete Alissa McKaig was named today to the 2012 World Championship Team in the marathon. McKaig was named to the 5 woman squad based on her debut marathon 5th place performance (2:37.29) at the 2010 ING NYC Marathon which served as the USATF Championship. Breakthrough ZAP Performances on 5/1 Weekend

Sunday May 1st saw 3 breakthrough performances by the ZAP Team. Rookie resident athlete Esther Erb kicked things off on the East Coast at the Broad Street 10 Miler in Philadelphia. Cruising through 10k in a personal best, Erb closed well to finish 4th (1st American) in a time of 56:34, a 10 mile personal best. Erb will next toe the line at the Fifth Third River Bank Run 25k on 5/14 - the race is serving as the USATF 25 kilometer National Championship.
