The first crisp Autumn weekend in North Carolina's High Country saw ZAP athletes in action in a couple locations in the region.

A strong ZAP contingent was in the hunt at the Blue Ridge Open cross country race, hosted by Appalachian State University. Cameron Bean (2nd, 24:39), Chris Clark (3rd, 24:41), and Cole Atkins (4th, 24:41) put in solid efforts over 8k while battling heavy winds at State Farm fields. Esther Erb backed up the guys' performances with her own top five (4th- 17:38) finish in the women's 5k race. It was a productive Friday afternoon for the ZAP team, all of whom are deep into a heavy training cycle leading up to the peak Fall season in late November/early December.

Two days later and 400 miles to the north, Alli Morgan tackled her first half marathon at the Columbus Half. After setting off at an easy pace to simulate her upcoming marathon debut (Philadelphia Marathon- November 17), Alli dropped the hammer and won the race in 1:14:12.

Cameron, Cole, and Chris will next see action on October 30 when they'll hit the track in Indianapolis, IN for a 10,000m. Cameron will pace Cole and Chris in their attempt to qualify for the USATF national track and field championships to be held next June. Esther will compete in the prestigious Mayor's Cup cross country race in Boston, MA on October 24. Alissa McKaig was off from racing this past weekend, putting the final touches on her preparation for the New York City Marathon on November 7.
