Joe Driscoll made his comeback official on Saturday 1/29 with a 10th place 1:04.23 1/2 Marathon performance at the Houston 1/2 Marathon. The sub 1:05 time qualifies Driscoll for the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials (Driscoll's 2nd), to be run on the same course in January of 2012. Driscoll joins ZAP teammates Esther Erb, Chris Clark, Dave Jankowski, Josh Simpson, Allison Grace-Morgan & Alissa McKaig as 2012 Olympic Trials Marathon Qualifiers. This year's Houston 1/2 Marathon race served as the 2011 USATF 1/2 Marathon Championship.

Driscoll departed ZAP's resident program in 2008 after years of injury, but returned to Blowing Rock this fall after surgery and an extended period of time away from competitive running. "Joe took more than two and a half years away from racing, had surgery to repair his heel and has now refocused toward the 2012 Olympic Trials," said ZAP Coach Pete Rea. "We are elated to have Joe back in Blowing Rock, and his renewed energy has really paid off." Driscoll will join teammate Esther Erb in 10 weeks at the Rotterdam Marathon in the Netherlands. Erb ran 1:17 in the women's 1/2 marathon at Houston.
