Sunday May 1st saw 3 breakthrough performances by the ZAP Team. Rookie resident athlete Esther Erb kicked things off on the East Coast at the Broad Street 10 Miler in Philadelphia. Cruising through 10k in a personal best, Erb closed well to finish 4th (1st American) in a time of 56:34, a 10 mile personal best. Erb will next toe the line at the Fifth Third River Bank Run 25k on 5/14 - the race is serving as the USATF 25 kilometer National Championship. Less than an hour later in Spokane, Washington - ZAP athlete Allison Grace-Morgan contested the rarely run 12 kilometer distance at the Lilac Bloomsday Festival 12k, one of the nation's oldest and largest races. Grace competed well, running 41:56 for the 7.4 mile race, finishing 14th overall and the 4th American. Grace will next race at the 5/14 Cleveland Revco 10k.

Later that evening at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA rookie ZAP Fitness runner Cameron Bean also saw a breakthrough performance in the 3,000m Steeplechase at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational. Entering with a personal best of 8:59, Bean knocked more than 12 seconds off his previous best to run 8:47.25. Finishing off the evening for ZAP Elite was Alissa McKaig in the women's 10,000m run. After an opening 5,000m of 15:54, McKaig settled in with a pack of 4 and finished with a time of 32:14.51, a personal best by more than 90 seconds and a new ZAP Fitness Club Record. McKaig has now run 2 personal bests in the 5,000m and one at 10,000m all in the last 10 weeks. 

Also competing at the Cardinal Invitational was rookie 5,000m runner Chris Clark (14:07) and 1st year athlete Jesse Cherry in the men's 10,000m 29:38.
