First year athlete Jesse Cherry finalized the ZAP roster for the Olympic Marathon Trials with his race at the San Jose Half Marathon. Jesse ran a 16 second PR, running 1:04:52 to dip under the Olympic Trials standard of 1:05:00 and earn a trip to Houston for the Olympic Trials. Jesse led the chase pack of runners for most of the race, maintaining qualifying pace through the finish line.

Jesse will be joined by 5 of his ZAP teammates on the starting line in Houston on January 14, 2012. Alissa McKaig, Esther Erb, David Jankowski, Chris Clark, and Joe Driscoll will all be competing alongside Cherry at the Olympic Trials. The ZAP crew will head to Tallahassee, Florida earlier than normal this year for their annual winter training stint in preparation for the Marathon Trials. The team will depart ZAP following Thanksgiving and spend the final 6 weeks of marathon training in Tallahassee.
