McKaig Breaks ZAP 5k Record

Second year ZAP athlete, Alissa McKaig, shattered the ZAP 5k mark last weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA. McKaig came into the race with a PR of 15:47, but that mark would survive less than 15 1/2 minutes after the gun went of Saturday night. McKaig finished in 8th place, in a race won by current American 5k record holder Molly Huddle. ZAP Fitness is extremely excited to be celebrating our 10th year anniversary next week! We will again be hosting groups from all around the country this year including triathlon, yoga, cycling, corporate retreats, college cross country teams, as well as our own adult running vacations. McKaig Takes 28th in the World; Cherry Makes ZAP Racing Debut

At yesterday's World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbria, Spain, ZAP's Alissa McKaig took 28th place. McKaig (photo courtesy of Michael Scott) ran with a pack of her American teammates for the better part of the race, moving up from 34th after the first loop to finish 28th. McKaig covered the 4 loop, 8,000m course, complete with 13 inch logs, in a time of 26:46. Jankowski 7th at US 15k Championships

ZAP Resident athlete David Jankowski finished 7th at the US 15k Championships Saturday, in what was arguably the deepest field in history. Jankowski covered the 15k course through Jacksonville in a time of 43:51, passing 5k in 14:24 and 10k in 29:05. Jankowski's time puts him as one of the fastest performers on that course in the last decade despite his 7th place finish. Successful Reedy River Run for ZAP Team

As part of the ZAP Fitness winter training at Furman University (Greenville, SC), 4 members of the resident team took part in the Carolina First Reedy River Run on Saturday 3/5. In the men's race David Jankowski had a good tune up for next weekend's Gate River Run finishing 4th in 29:53 - teammate Chris clark was 7th grabbing the last podium spot. ZAP Resident Athlete Alissa McKaig earned her first senior World Cross Country Team selection on Saturday 2/5 by finishing 6th at the USATF XC Championship 8k (Mission Bay Park - San Diego, CA). McKaig, 24, placed herself in the top 6 immediately and remained there finishing the 8 kilometer course in 27:07. Driscoll Becomes 7th ZAP Athlete to Qualify for '12 Marathon Trials

Joe Driscoll made his comeback official on Saturday 1/29 with a 10th place 1:04.23 1/2 Marathon performance at the Houston 1/2 Marathon. The sub 1:05 time qualifies Driscoll for the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials (Driscoll's 2nd), to be run on the same course in January of 2012. 2011 began on a positive note for ZAP Fitness at the Emerald Nuts 4 Mile Midnight Run in Central Park (NYC). Resident athlete David Jankowski finished 2nd in 18:12, one second behind winner Stephen Furst, and tying the previous course record.
