Michael is a native of the desert of California and attend Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. As a collegiate athlete Michael was the most decorated runner in school history, and arguably the most dominant runner in the country in 2009 and 2010. He amassed 6 All-American honors and was a three time National Champion - once each season. He was the 2009 Indoor 5k Champion and Outdoor 1,500m Champion. He followed those titles up in the fall of 2010 by winning the Cross Country National Title. Michael is engaged to marry fellow ZAP athlete Sarah Porter in December.
